93 Crochet Blanket Patterns & Ideas: Your Next Cozy Project Starts Here

Choosing a blanket is a commitment to more than a pretty photograph. You will spend many hours with its stitches, turn its colors into your own yarn choices, and eventually wash and use the finished fabric. A design that suits the way you like to crochet is far more inviting than one chosen only because it looks impressive.

This collection brings together 93 ideas from the Crochetnotes blanket roundup. Some are complete blankets, while others are individual squares, flowers, stitch tutorials, charts, or project features that can inspire a blanket of your own. Their numbers follow the video, so you can keep track of a favorite without searching the whole list again.

The linked creators and publishers provide the actual instructions. This page helps you compare possibilities and plan a project; it does not combine 93 different patterns into one interchangeable set of directions.

Start with the kind of making you enjoy

| If you want… | Browse these numbers first | Think about… | | --- | --- | --- | | A project worked mainly as one fabric | 6, 16, 21, 27, 37, 84 | Turning chains, row counts, and the finished weight in your lap | | Portable pieces to join later | 23, 29, 38, 40, 49, 64, 83 | The number of pieces, seams, and ends to finish | | Graphic colorwork | 2, 3, 65, 78 | Contrast, reading the repeat, and border construction | | A year recorded in yarn | 12 | A color key, daily records, and the eventual blanket size | | Floral texture | 17, 29, 38, 57, 67 | Raised details, joins, and the amount of finishing | | Tunisian crochet | 20, 69 | Hook length or cable capacity and fabric drape | | A playful shape or theme | 90–93 | How its outline affects size, use, and storage |

These are browsing routes, not newly assigned skill ratings. Open a pattern and read its requirements before deciding that it is right for your experience level.

Read the source before buying yarn

Check the actual finished measurements, yarn weight and quantity, hook size, stitch terminology, and whether the instructions are complete. A blanket called “baby” may still differ greatly in size from another baby blanket.

Look for the whole pattern rather than only its first photograph. Crochet-alongs may use several pages; a stitch tutorial may need a separate sizing plan; a motif may not include joining or border instructions. A source labeled as free in an older roundup may also change its availability.

The links below preserve the resources supplied with the video. Some lead directly to PDFs, videos, directory listings, or intermediary project pages. They are not a promise that every destination currently opens or that every pattern is still free. Where the resource is a motif, chart, or inspiration feature, that distinction is stated.

The 93 projects, in video order

1–15: Geometry, texture, and smaller blanket ideas

  1. [Mitered Squares Crochet Blanket](https://www.petalstopicots.com/continuous-mitered-square-crochet-afghan-pattern/). Consider this if you enjoy watching geometric sections grow. Compare its construction with separately joined squares before choosing your approach.
  1. [Overlay Mosaic Crochet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lugsjamITXw). A technique video for exploring graphic colorwork. Read the repeat and border requirements before applying the technique to a particular blanket size.
  1. [Caron Woven Mosaic Crochet Blanket](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/CAC0502-029344M.pdf). A direct pattern PDF. Choose colors with enough contrast for the woven effect to remain visible at room distance.
  1. [Southwest Stripe Crochet Blanket](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/CAC0502-009553M.pdf). Compare the stripe sequence with the yarn quantities, especially if replacing the original palette with stash colors.
  1. [Patons Quarter Circle Crochet Blanket](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/PAC0502-028870M.pdf). Curved geometry offers a different look from rows or standard granny squares. Study the layout before making multiple sections.
  1. [The Slate Blanket](https://meghanmakesdo.com/blog/the-slate-blanket-free-crochet-pattern). A useful option to compare when you want texture to carry the design. Try a swatch in the color you intend to use.
  1. [Evren Baby Blanket](https://www.hooksbookswanderlust.com/2022/06/23/evren-baby-blanket/). For a gift, check the stated dimensions and care requirements before choosing a yarn substitute.
  1. [Bernat Diamond Filet Crochet Blanket](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/BRC0202-013774M.pdf). Filet openings make the negative space part of the design. A contrasting surface beneath a swatch helps you read the diamonds.
  1. [Caron Diamond Crochet Granny Afghan](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/CAC0502-009561M.pdf). Look at the complete arrangement as well as the individual granny sections before assigning colors.
  1. [Modern Crochet Blanket with Beautiful Texture](https://nanascraftyhome.com/modern-crochet-blanket-pattern/). Compare the surface detail and drape of a sample; an attractive texture can feel quite different in a substituted yarn.
  1. [Simple Crochet Flower](https://lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/free-crochet-patterns/simple-crochet-flower/). This is a flower motif, not a complete blanket. A larger project needs its own plan for connecting the flowers or attaching them to fabric.
  1. [Linen Square Temperature Blanket](https://tlycblog.com/linen-square-temperature-blanket-free-crochet-linen-stitch-afghan-pattern/). Decide the temperature ranges, color key, and recording method before starting. Keep those decisions consistent throughout the year.
  1. [Bear Crochet Baby Blanket](https://maisieandruth.com/bear-crochet-baby-blanket-cute-easy-tutorial/). An animal-themed gift idea. Read the finishing instructions as carefully as the main blanket pattern.
  1. [Milan Baby Blanket](https://thatcrochetlife.com/milan-baby-blanket/). Add this to a gift shortlist, then compare its dimensions and yarn needs with the other baby blankets in the collection.
  1. [Crochet Berry Blossom Baby Blanket](https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-berry-blossom-baby-blanket/). A texture-focused option. Make enough of the repeat in your swatch to see how the surface develops.

16–30: Ripples, flowers, and decorative squares

  1. [Ripple in Time Throw](https://richtexturescrochet.com/ripple-in-time-throw-a-free-crochet-pattern/). Mark the shaping points when testing the ripple so increases and decreases stay aligned.
  1. [Garden Flowers Crochet Blanket](https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0711/5132/1403/files/CAC0502-030476M.pdf). Compare flower colors together before making a full set. The background influences how strongly each bloom stands out.
  1. [The Sage Baby Blanket](https://theloopholefox.com/gingham-baby-blanket-gender-neutral-free-crochet-pattern/). A gingham-style direction. Check how the pattern handles color changes before deciding whether the method suits you.
  1. [Locke Throw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PuEidP40pE). A video-led resource. Write down the repeat, sizing information, and finishing steps before committing to a larger version.
  1. [Daydream Striped Tunisian Blanket](https://www.1dogwoof.com/daydream-simple-striped-tunisian-crochet-blanket/). Check the Tunisian hook requirements and the finished fabric’s drape rather than assuming your usual crochet hook is sufficient.
  1. [Easy Rolling Waves Crochet Blanket](https://www.nickishomemadecrafts.com/crochet-rolling-waves-blanket/). Flowing rows make color placement part of the design. Test a full wave repeat before setting the width.
  1. [Flowers in a Row / Tulip Stitch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lRXIocH7Mk). This is a stitch tutorial. A blanket based on it still needs a complete width, length, border, and yarn plan.
  1. [Victorian Lattice Square](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/victorian-lattice-square). An individual square resource. Block a sample and check its edge count before combining it with another square pattern.
  1. [Art Deco Throw](https://www.spotlightstores.com/projects/blanket-throw-projects/art-deco-throw-project). Browse the full layout to see how its decorative geometry works beyond a close-up crop.
  1. [Drops of Heaven Chevron](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/drops-of-heaven-chevron). Compare this chevron with the other wave patterns before choosing the repeat you want to spend a whole blanket making.
  1. [Popcorn Throw](https://www.crochet.com/popcorn-throw/p/58024). Raised texture is part of the appeal. Include textured rows in a swatch when judging yarn use and fabric weight.
  1. [Mae’s Chevron Crochet Blanket](https://hearthookhome.com/maes-chevron-crochet-blanket-pattern/). Look at how the stripe sequence emphasizes the chevron points before changing the color order.
  1. [Creighton’s Blanket](https://hearthookhome.com/creightons-blanket-free-crochet-pattern/). Compare the main repeat and finishing requirements with the space and time you have for a larger project.
  1. [Primavera Flowers Granny Square](https://www.dadasplace.com/2014/03/primavera-flowers-granny-square-tutorial.html). A flower-square tutorial. Plan the joining, square count, and final border separately if they are not covered in the version you use.
  1. [Puff Flower Motif](https://littlegreen.typepad.com/files/mollie-flowers-2-1.pdf). An older direct PDF resource for a dimensional motif. Confirm that the file is available before designing an entire joined-flower blanket around it.

31–45: Hearts, seasonal texture, and spirals

  1. [Hugs & Kisses Baby Blanket](https://thecrochetcrowd.com/crochet-hugs-kisses-baby-blanket-pattern-tutorial/). Review the stitch combinations and included demonstration before choosing it as a first textured blanket.
  1. [Bloom Afghan Throw Blanket](https://leeleeknits.com/bloom-afghan-throw-blanket/). Study the relationship between the individual sections and the complete throw when choosing a palette.
  1. [Heart Stitch and Blanket](http://english.charami.com/2012/08/03/pattern-hearts-blanket/). A repeating-heart resource. Check the instructions and terminology on the linked page before using the stitch in a custom size.
  1. [Stargazer Throw](https://www.twoofwands.com/blog/stargazer-throw). A statement-throw option. Consider the view of the whole blanket, including its outer edge, when comparing it with rectangular row projects.
  1. [Fall Into Autumn CAL](https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/ideas/Fall-Into-Autumn-CAL.html#howto). A staged crochet-along resource. Locate every installment and finishing page before beginning.
  1. [Little Dots Pattern](https://atty-s.com/2014/10/little-dots-pattern.html). A motif resource for a dot-based project. Work out how the dots will connect before estimating a full blanket.
  1. [The Beginners Blanket](https://www.lullabylodge.com/2019/10/the-beginners-blanket-just-learned-to.html). A starting point to investigate for an early larger project. Read the whole pattern even if the name sounds approachable.
  1. [Sunflower Square Blanket](https://www.craftykittycrochet.com/2019/03/17/sunflower-square-blanket-crochet-pattern/). Make one sunflower square and its surrounding background before calculating how many you need.
  1. [Daisy Flowers Blanket](https://www.crochetbeja.com/daisy-crochet-flowers-blanket-tutorial/). A linked floral tutorial resource. Confirm the complete instructions and joining method rather than relying on the project photograph.
  1. [Purifying Puritans 12-Inch Afghan Block](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/purifying-puritans-12-afghan-block-tutorial). An individual block, not automatically a full blanket plan. The title’s nominal measurement still needs checking with your yarn and gauge.
  1. [3D Triangle Blanket](https://fabartdiy.org/3d-triangle-blanket/). A project-resource page. Follow through to the actual instructions and examine how the dimensional effect is constructed.
  1. [Feather and Fan Baby Blanket](https://persialou.com/feather-and-fan-baby-blanket-free-crochet-pattern/). A wave-style choice. Count a complete repeat in the sample before expanding the foundation.
  1. [Triweave](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/triweave). A stitch resource rather than a ready-sized blanket. Check the listing’s technique and instructions before planning a larger fabric.
  1. [Zen Spiral Afghan](https://cdn.accentuate.io/4679061897309/12378270040157/Crochet-Pattern-Zen-Spiral-Afghan-70629AD-v1591829787971.PDF). A direct pattern PDF for a spiral project. Read its color-management steps before starting several strands.
  1. [Spiral Afghan](https://www.favecrafts.com/Crochet-Afghans/Spiral-Afghan-Crochet-Pattern-from-Caron-Yarn). Compare the construction and outline with No. 44; similar-looking spirals do not necessarily use the same method.

46–60: Samplers, hexagons, and more flowers

  1. [Mixtape Medley Crochet Blanket](https://zeensandroger.com/2022/01/16/mixtape-medley-crochet-blanket-pattern-us-terms/). A medley-style choice for variety. Keep written notes when changing sections so it is easy to resume later.
  1. [Diamond Afghan Resource](https://www.howtomakes.org/navajo-indian-diamond-afghan-crochet-free-pattern-video/). The source uses a longer diamond-afghan title. Confirm the actual written or video instructions behind the resource page before purchasing yarn.

  1. [Blizzard Warning](https://everytrickonthehook.com/2015/11/05/blizzard-warning/). A seasonal design resource. Check whether the page supplies a block, a complete afghan, or directions to another part before estimating yarn.
  1. [Bundle Up Triangles Blanket](https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-bundle-up-triangles-blanket/). Repeated triangle details make consistency important. Test the color contrast and count the motif repeat.

61–75: Chunky textures, graphic designs, and familiar motifs

  1. [Circle Granny Square Blanket](https://thispixiecreates.com/how-to-crochet-a-circle-granny-square-blanket/). Circular centers become joined squares. Measure a completed square, including its outer rounds, before calculating a layout.

  1. [Ribbed Diamond Blanket](https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-ribbed-diamond-blanket/). Raised diamonds make placement important. Mark the repeat while learning the texture.
  1. [Primavera Granny Stripes Blanket](https://cjdesignblog.com/primaverablanket/). A stripe-led option for a planned palette or an organized stash project. Check the amount available in each color before fixing the stripe order.

  1. [Velvet Flower Rows Baby Blanket](https://daisyfarmcrafts.com/crochet-velvet-flower-rows-baby-blanket/). Velvet yarn needs a sample in the actual stitch pattern; its behavior can differ from smooth plied yarn.
  1. [Thin Heart Bobble Chart](https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/thin-heart-bobble-chart). A chart rather than a complete blanket pattern. Decide how it fits within the surrounding fabric, then plan dimensions and borders separately.

  1. [Mountain Pine Crochet Tree Blanket](https://easycrochet.com/mountain-pine-tree-crochet-blanket/). A tree-themed design. Check how the motif repeats across the intended width before changing dimensions.

  1. [The Livy Throw](https://meghanmakesdo.com/blog/the-livy-throw-free-crochet-pattern). A full-throw candidate. Read the whole repeat and border instructions before deciding how to use your available yarn.
  1. [Baby Sea Turtle Blanket](https://madebymandy86.wordpress.com/2017/09/15/baby-sea-turtle-blanket/). A themed blanket resource. Include any separate decorative pieces and assembly in the project plan.

  1. [Butterfly Blanket](https://www.mjsoffthehookdesigns.com/how-to-crochet-a-butterfly-blanket/). A distinctive silhouette. Review construction, sizing, and shaping before deciding whether it suits the intended recipient.
  1. [Pizza Blanket](https://thecaffeinatedsnail.com/pizza-blanket-crochet-pattern/). A playful final option. Plan the base and topping colors together, and include the decorative finishing in the yarn estimate.

Turn three favorites into one workable project

After browsing, choose three favorites rather than buying yarn for the first attractive photograph. Open each source and make a small comparison sheet with its finished size, yarn requirements, construction, and any extra finishing.

One design may use a familiar stitch but require many motifs to join. Another may introduce a new technique yet have a repeat you enjoy once you have practiced it. Consider the entire process, including borders and ends, when deciding which one you are likely to finish.

Make a meaningful swatch

Work enough of the pattern to include its main repeat. A tiny plain square will not tell you how a bobble, ripple, or mosaic fabric behaves. For motifs, complete one whole unit, including its outer rounds.

Finish the sample using the care method appropriate to the yarn, let it dry, then measure it. Record the hook and yarn so you can reproduce the result later. This is particularly useful for a project made over several months.

For a motif blanket, a sample gives a starting layout calculation. If a blocked square measures 15 cm and you want approximately 90 cm across, six squares give 90 cm before allowing for joins and borders. That is a planning example, not a replacement size instruction for any linked pattern.

Estimate yarn from the actual fabric

Use the designer’s yarn quantity when making the stated size in comparable materials. If changing the size or using motifs, weigh a completed sample and record its area or repeat count.

For example, a square weighing 12 g would put 48 identical squares at about 576 g for the squares alone. Joins, borders, tails, and a sensible reserve are additional. Keep different color quantities separate when the design does not use them equally.

Do not assume that switching to thicker yarn simply reduces the number of balls. Ball weights, yardage, stitch density, and finished size all change the calculation.

Plan the finishing before the middle of the blanket

For joined designs, choose a seam and test it on two pieces early. A very tight seam can pucker otherwise correct squares. Check both edge counts and measurements before joining different motifs.

For a row blanket, count the main repeat regularly and keep the first and last stitches marked while learning it. Small edge mistakes become more noticeable over a long fabric.

Think about the border from the start. Reserve its yarn, check how it turns corners, and avoid adding so many stitches that the edge ripples. A border should finish the shape rather than conceal a substantial stitch-count problem.

If the blanket is a gift, include care information for the exact yarns used. For a baby-themed project, also consider how loose embellishments, open spaces, and the intended way of using the blanket affect the design you choose; a baby-blanket title is not a substitute for those decisions.

Save the project information with the pattern

Keep your chosen source link, any pattern file the creator permits you to save, and your own yarn notes together. Record the version or download date, color names, hook size, and changes you deliberately make.

The collection’s original numbered source file is available with the blanket roundup links. Individual pattern rights and usage terms remain with their creators. Visit the linked instructions for their current information rather than redistributing another designer’s full pattern from this list.
